Open Position: Graphic Designer

Company: HIARKI Design Co. Location: Minneapolis, MN (100% On-Site) Role Type: Full-Time Reports To: Doug Forbes, Principal

Who We Are

HIARKI is a boutique design studio based in Minneapolis. We specialize in bringing brand narratives into physical spaces, working primarily with architecture firms and commercial brands. We are a small, agile team focused on high-quality craft and rigorous execution.

The Role

We are looking for a strong Graphic Designer with an emphasis on print production, layout, and environmental graphics.

This is a key support role working directly with the Principal. We need a designer who loves the details—someone who takes pride in building flawless InDesign decks, setting perfect type, and preparing print files that are ready for fabrication.

A Note on Our Work Style: Because our work involves physical samples, large-format prints, and real-time collaboration, this is a fully in-person role.

What You Will Do (Responsibilities)

  • Presentation Design (InDesign Mastery): You will be responsible for the design and structure of project decks, proposals, and client presentations. You must be able to organize complex information into clear, well-designed layouts.

  • Production Support: Prepare final production files for print and fabrication. You will handle the technical side of design—checking resolution, color matching (PMS/CMYK), and ensuring files are built correctly.

  • Environmental Graphics Support: Assist in applying graphics to architectural plans and elevations. You will take design concepts and help visualize them in physical space.

  • Studio Support: Assist with internal design initiatives and general studio operations as needed.

What We Are Looking For (Requirements)

  • Adobe InDesign (Expert Level): This is the most critical tool for this role. You should know how to use master pages, character styles, and grids efficiently.

  • Strong Print Foundation: You understand the difference between vector and raster, image resolution, and print production standards.

  • Attention to Detail: You are organized. You name your files correctly. You spot typos and alignment errors before they go out.

  • Comfort with Plans: You don't need to be an architect, but you should be comfortable looking at floor plans and elevations without getting lost.

  • Software: Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop).

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary: Competitive, based on experience.

  • Health Coverage: We provide a Health Reimbursement Arrangement (HRA) to cover a cost of your individual health insurance premiums. We encourage team members to utilize MNsure to select the plan that best fits their specific needs.

  • Time Off: 2 Weeks Paid Vacation + Standard Holidays.

Why Join?

  • Mentorship: You will work side-by-side with a Principal with 25+ years of industry experience.

  • Skill Growth: You will receive training on the specifics of Experiential Design, bridging the gap between traditional graphic design and architecture.

  • Impact: As a key member of a small team, your work will have an immediate impact on our projects and clients.
